when my sister was here...

*I finished my painting F-I-N-A-L-L-Y... put everything back in it's place and decorated for Halloween before my annual birthday slumber party on Friday the 15th!

(Sherry gave me the cute little ghost dish & Cher brought her famous caramel popcorn to the party!)
(GOODBYE Ralph Lauren Venetian Red walls.. and HELLO Benjamin Moore Manchester Tan!)

(Cher brought these yummier-than-ever sugar cookie bars to the party too!)
(I didn't take any photos of the slumber party fun.. we were too busy eatin' good food, laughin' 'til our tummies ached and watchin' spooky movies... but I did get these of the house decorated before hand!)

*Saturday, after the party we woke up & Andres had made us all a tasty breakfast! We hung out in our jammies and laughed even harder than the night before while taking distorted pictures of ourselves on my Photo Booth app. I would share some.. but they are U-G-G-G-L-Y and my sister made me swear them to secrecy for our eyes only!!! I think she even said something like she'd burn my house down if I put them on my blog!

(Lookin' good in the morning... har-dee-har-har!!!)
(Kallie & Sherry. Best Friends since Kindergarten...)

Later we went shopping together and then met up with more family for dinner. Oh my goodness.. I thought I'd already laughed as hard as I could but we laughed even harder. Sherry almost peed her pants at the restaurant! Then the girls met up with Kallie at the dollar theater and went to a movie. After that Sydnee & I had a sleepover with Sherry at my parents house! We stayed up WAY late AGAIN... watching another old movie they'd checked out from the library, playing with each others hair and tickling backs!

*Sunday, we were gonna go to church with my parents but the sleepless nights had gotten to me and when I needed to get up and get ready I wasn't feeling good.. my body was telling me it needed some serious rest. So we all slept in pretty much all morning and when we woke up I felt like a new woman!

Sherry went to visit with her in-laws for the rest of the day and Sydnee & I went home to spend time with Andres and the rest of the kids.

*Monday, my kids were still out of school for Fall Break which made it easier for me to leave that morning and make a trip to Logan with my parents and my sister. She used to live there and needed to go back to the kids elementary school to pick up some year end dvd's they never got, she also wanted to say hi to some old neighbors and just drive around and reminisce. Monday happened to be my Dad's birthday so it was fun to have that time to spend alone with my parents together like old times... We went out to lunch for his birthday at the old Bluebird Cafe!

(Scenes from our drive up to Logan.)
(The very first house Sherry lived in right after she got married.)
(Sherry used to take her kids to this pond and let them feed the ducks.)

After we got back from our trip to Logan, Sherry & I helped my Mom get ready for the rest of the family & some friends to come over and celebrate my Dad's birthday! It was very gritty... My parents have a big rock fireplace on their back patio and my Dad made a big fire in it to warm us from the autumn chill in the air. We roasted hot dogs and had them with potato chips and drinks! Then we sang happy birthday and opened presents!

*Tuesday, was my last day to spend with my sister. : ( I was trying to enjoy every last moment but I was sad knowing that I wasn't going to see her for a very long time again... this once a year and longer set up isn't cuttin' it, it's a big bummer if you ask me!

Anywho, after I picked up Tanner from Kindergarten he and I drove up to my parents and then we all left together to go up the canyon to Silver Fork Lodge for lunch. This is tradition in our family to go to Silver Fork during the Fall. It's always so gorgeous up there. Some years there's snow & we'll sit inside by the huge fireplace as we eat our food, sipping hot cocoa and watching the snow fall outside.. and others, like this year the snow has yet to fall and we still get to enjoy the colorful leaves on the trees mixed with the majestic blue sky and green pines.. sometimes if the air is not too cool we'll even sit out on the deck to eat our meal. I love this tradition we have & I'm so glad that we got to do it again with my sister this year!!!

(The scene from the window where we ate.)

When we got back from our lunch at Silver Fork Lodge, Tanner and I spent the rest of the day at my parents. I ran some errands with Sherry.. we went to library so she could print out her boarding pass and we could return some of the movies that my parents checked out. While we were there I looked over from where we were sitting and saw this guy not more than a few feet away from me and he looked so much like my Dad at first glance that I almost said, Dad what are you doing here??? I then told Sherry to look at him and she stared at him in awe for about 30 seconds and couldn't believe the close resemblance. The main thing that was different was his nose & his posture but other than that they could've have been brothers. We were sly & took an undercover picture of him to show my parents because we knew they wouldn't believe it if they didn't actually see a picture of him. For those of you who know my Dad what do you think???

After we left the library we went down to Costco to make sure that we all had each other pictures made into cd's and got a few things for my Mom then we went home and had dinner together and just hung out until it was time for Tanner & I to go home. I didn't want to leave... I didn't want to have to say goodbye.. I hate saying goodbye, especially when it's open-ended and I don't know when I'm going to see her again. We acted gritty and silly throughout it so we wouldn't shed any tears and then make the other one cry, but I shed some by myslef. : (

I know it wasn't easy for her to come visit right now.. she made a huge sacrifice in many ways to come and I'm so thankful that she did! I will forever remember my 35th Birthday Surprise!!!

Thanks Sista!
I hope I get to see you again sooner than later...

what we did on Tanner's birthday-

Tanner's birthday fell on the first day of Fall break, so no school! We had the whole day open to go and do whatever we wanted...

It was so nice, we all slept in.. then I took Tanner up to Sundance for some Mom-n-Me time. I was going to take him on the tram ride up the mountain to see the gorgeous colored leaves but when we got there we found out that they had just barely shut down the tram rides for the season the Sunday before. It's okay though, the weather was perfect, the drive up the canyon was just as gorgeous as the tram ride would've been, and we still got some fresh pastries & fruit with a drink and a spiced apple cider sucker to eat out on the covered porch!

Tanner chose the glass bottle of Orange Crush because when he saw it he remembered it being what Santa left him in his stocking for Christmas last year!

Tanner's so cute.. I just love hangin' out with him! He told me on the way up the canyon, "Mom. I like your earrings! They're pretty."

When we got home from Sundance, Tanner got to open his presents!!!

I think I was looking forward to Tanner's birthday just as much as he was... he's been begging me to let him look through the toy section of the store and pointing out things that he wants for his birthday for months! Thank goodness we won't have to do that anymore.. Oh wait! Now he's gonna want to do it for Christmas!

Here we go again...

A little while later Andres met up with us & we went to see the movie Alpha & Omega. It was fun going to a movie with the family but the movie was not that great, I wish it would've been better, the kids were fine with it though.
