Platinum Protection - Charity Knock 2008

Platinum had the BeSt Christmas party EveR this year!

It started out early in the morning.. Andres woke up Marcus & Sydnee at 6:30 in the morning before school and they bundled up and went passing out flyers to 150 homes to let them know that we'd be stopping by that afternoon to pick up donated food for the Utah Food Bank. They thought it was SO cool!

Andres came home early from work to get started and as soon as the kids got home from school they headed out to knock on doors and pick up food. I have to say, this is the best thing my kids have ever done during the holidays and they had a blast doing it! It was great to see them forget everything except getting more food for the people who need it, they were on a quest!

After driving around, knocking, and picking up food all through the afternoon and early evening hours, we headed up to Thanksgiving Point to load the food into big moving trucks and to warm up with cookies & hot cocoa. Thanks Platinum for offering our family the opportunity to help out where there's a need!

Platinum organized the largest corporate door-to-door food drive in Utah history and brought in 34,000 pounds of food for the local food banks!!!

It's so nice to feel appreciated~

Andres had to go out of town this week and look what I got! He left Monday and Tuesday I got back from lunch with some friends and I had a message from a floral shop telling me that they left a delivery of flowers at my neighbors house. They were gone most of the day; and I was so excited to get them because I thought that Andres had sent me flowers being that he was out of town. My Dad did that one time for my Mom when he was out of town and she has never forgotten it. Later, my neighbor knocks at the door and gives me these AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL flowers and I open the card and they were not from Andres... They were from the owners of the company he works for. I couldn't believe it.

It's so nice to feel appreciated. The flowers are the prettiest I think I've ever seen.. they smell incredible and the colors are my favorite! Receiving flowers when you're totally not expecting it, is the best! Thanks to an awesome company and more importantly the really great people Andres gets to work with everyday. What a blessing... And that's not all ~ they have arranged for us to go to a couple spa retreat on Friday night after he gets back. Now I just need to find a babysitter.

I couldn't stop taking pictures I love them so much and they are even prettier today now that some of the blooms are opening up more.

Elisa came over last night to hang out and watch a movie and we had the best time. It's hard NOT to have the best time when I'm with Elisa, she is hiliariously funny nonstop, upbeat, silly... I LOVE IT! That's my kind.. As my Dad would say while offering me a handful of nuts, "A nut for the nutty!!!" That's how I picture Elisa and I. We're both nutty and it's so much fun to hang out together.

This morning I woke up to a strong burning smell, I checked the whole house and didn't find anything burning; but it totally smelt like something WAS burning. It was right when I was trying to get the kids ready and fed before school, you know how busy that is.. and in the mean time I'm calling Andres asking him if he thinks I should call the Fire Department. He says, better safe than sorry.. so I call and minutes later I've got my kids all outside eating their cereal and I'm trying to finish getting Kynlee dressed when the big parade of sirens pulls up. Embarrassing... since there weren't any flames anywhere; but I could still smell this bad burning smell. Luckily the house was not on fire, it was the furnace. The smell was coming up through the vents. The control panel was shot and everytime the thermostat would kick it on, it would just sit and run in the warm-up stage and never let the motor turn on. At least that's what I understood. So.... we are now having to buy a new furnace. YIPEE, I can hardly wait to spend money on something that I don't want to! Oh well, we've known for quite some time now that the size of our furnace was inadequate to the size of our house and that we would eventually need to upgrade it; but like I said, we just never want to spend money on something like a furnace. Darn neccessities.

I'm glad there was no actual fire though, and I'm way excited because Andres comes home tomorrow and I miss him a lot = P
