trick-or-treating

HALLOWEEN was a cool crisp day with rain on and off... very gritty for staying inside with some cozy socks, sipping on a bowl of warm soup --- but not for the kids who didn't want to haul around an umbrella while trying to collect as much candy as humanly possible and having to wear coats so people wouldn't see there costumes... that was Tanner's biggest concern. 


As the kids were getting ready for trick-or-treating, the sky got darker and darker and the rain began to pour down heavily. They were bracing themselves for a cool-n-wet night of short-lived trick-or-treating when Andres suggested we say a prayer and ask that the rain stop and the weather would be calm and clear. We did and then they headed out with umbrellas and ponchos. They started in our culdesac, and by the time they were almost done and ready to go up the street the rain had stopped and they were able to leave their umbrellas behind. 


When they all came back from trick-or-treating they were so excited to tell me that our prayer had been answered and the rain stopped so they could do all the trick-or-treating they wanted!!! They said that we needed to remember to thank Heavenly Father in our prayers that night for blessing us and answering our prayer earlier. I'm grateful for this experience & that it helped my little ones believe in the power of prayer.

Tanner asked Marcus if he'd carve his little "peanut pumpkin" he picked out at the pumpkin patch on his field trip. He wanted to add it to the collection of other jack-o-lanterns on Halloween night!


My parents came down on trick-or-treat night! 
*I made some yummy chicken tortilla soup & my Mom brought a delicious salad with vegetables they harvested from their garden. 
*The kids trick-or-treated to their hearts content...
*They got to hang out over at the neighbors haunted house they spend weeks setting up each year for Halloween night!
*...and of course, we popped popcorn, cuddled up in the basement and watched another scary Vincent Price movie, HOUSE OF WAX! Plus Abbott & Costello Meets Frankenstein!!! 


Doesn't get much better than that... 
I'm just glad it's over now and that I'm finally done bloggin' about it too! : )
I'm ready for Thanksgiving and sooooo excited for Christmas this year!
